Notes on accessibility
We have summarized some information on individual restrictions below. But everyone is different. Only you can judge whether you feel comfortable on board with your special disability. Are the ladder rungs still close enough together for your short stature? Is the contrast between the wooden strip and the cubicle wall strong enough for your eyes? If you are unsure and we can’t help you over the phone or in chat, please feel free to come on board. We will be happy to show you our boats at our locations. We ask for your understanding that we cannot communicate in sign language.
Wheelchair or mobility-impaired persons
Houseboat vacations with us are suitable for everyone, and we also have boats with certified accessibility for passengers with physical disabilities.
Our Febomobil 990, Febomobil 1180 and sauna house boats offer enough space and comfort so that even people with limited mobility can enjoy their vacation without restrictions.
The steering position is wheelchair accessible and wheelchair users can also move around freely inside the boat for the most part. The interior doors are wider, the bathroom is wheelchair-accessible, the saloon and the sleeping cabins have generous open spaces and are located on a level without steps.

Visual impairment
Blind crew members or crew members with impaired vision are welcome on board. The Kormoran and Febomobil series are predominantly finished in contrasting colors, so that corners and edges stand out clearly. The light switches also stand out from the background. On both types of boat, handrails can be gripped at any point on the deck. There is no labeling in Braille. As the sound of the engine drowns out the sound of other housings, blind and visually impaired people cannot travel alone on a houseboat.
Impairment of the sense of hearing
Deaf crew members or crew members with impaired hearing are welcome on board. Radio, echo sounder and control panels can be visually distinguished. However, there is no visual indication of the motor alarm. Our houseboats are therefore not designed for deaf people to travel alone.
Crew members of small stature
Yes, children are also allowed at the helm of the houseboat, but a parent is still responsible. So get behind the wheel with your child and enjoy your time on the water together.
Mental restrictions
Crew members with mental disabilities are welcome on board, but should not be on board without assistance. Houseboats usually have lots of windows, so there is no feeling of confined space, but a sleeping cabin can still feel cramped for claustrophobics. The vastness of the lakes, which most people find liberating, can act as a trigger for agoraphobics. As spiders feel particularly at home near water, houseboats are not a good place for arachnophobes. Acrophobics who can withstand heights of up to two meters should have no problems on a houseboat. Please take the opportunity to view our boats without obligation.

- There is a barrier-free bathroom in the sanitary building
- Access to the jetty via floating jetty and stepless ramps (depending on the water level, assistance may be required for the ascent, our harbor team will be happy to assist)
Charter station Berlin-Zeuthen
- The harbor has paved paths and parking areas, access to the fixed jetty is via a grassy area
- The fixed walkway has an approximately 5-centimeter-high sliding edge that can be bridged with the board ramp
- Depending on the water level, there may be a gradient to the boat, so that a completely barrier-free jetty in the neighborhood can be used if necessary
Charter station Priepert
- The harbor has gravel paths and parking areas
- The restaurant can be reached on wheels and the mini market is accessed via a step
- Access to the jetty is unpaved and sloping, assistance may be required depending on the water level, the harbor team will be happy to assist, the jetty itself consists of wide floating docks
Charter station Citymarina Berlin Rummelsburg (only in winter)
- The harbor has paved paths and parking areas
- Access to the jetty via floating jetty and stepless ramps (assistance may be required depending on the water level, the harbor team will be happy to help)
- The restaurant can be reached on wheels
Boating vacations for everyone
Accessibility on land
Being on board a houseboat as a wheelchair user or otherwise mobility-impaired person is fun, but comes with new and perhaps unfamiliar obstacles. At Hafendorf Müritz, we have endeavored to remove such barriers and make vacations possible for everyone.
- the jetty is accessible via a ramp (the gradient depends on the water level)
- the floating harbor office is accessible via a ramp with an 8% incline
- Two disabled parking spaces are available for people with the appropriate authorization
- Barrier-free bathroom in the port building (Euro key)
- Restaurant Captains Inn accessible for wheelchair users indoors and outdoors
- Pirates Bar beach bar partially accessible for wheelchair users (boardwalk to the bar and individual areas)
- the motorhome marina: there is a sanitary room for people with disabilities in the wash house. Assistance dogs (guide dogs, guide dogs for the blind, etc.) may be brought along. Outside paths usually have a visually contrasting and/or tactilely detectable walkway boundary.
Please note: The boat world was not accessible to wheelchair crews for a very long time and is only slowly opening up. As a wheelchair user, you can help to speed up this process by explaining your needs to us and others along the way. Become visible!

Which boats are suitable for accessible boating vacations?
Our Febomobil 990, Febomobil 1180 and sauna houseboats are equipped so that everyone on board feels comfortable. A crew member on wheels such as a wheelchair user or a walker pilot also takes an active part in life on board. Yes, you read that right: ACTIVE! The steering position is wheelchair accessible so that you can steer the houseboat as a wheelchair user. You set the course!
Wheelchair users can also move around freely inside the boat for the most part: The interior doors are wider, the bathroom is wheelchair-accessible, the saloon and sleeping cabins have generous open spaces and are located on a level without steps.
Please note: The aft outdoor area and the sun deck on the roof are not accessible on wheels. For this reason, a pedestrian must be on board during the journey.

We review our journey a little: The initial fear of the locks and the wind now seemed completely silly; we had probably thrown this fear overboard on the way. We remember all the nice people we met everywhere. To the willingness to help on the water, which is unparalleled – in really every place. The wonderful views of nature that we are otherwise denied on land, all the beautiful places, the gray herons and kingfishers.
Yes, it was a completely different vacation than usual. A change of perspective. A rediscovery of home, including an anti-stress cure. And we learned a lot, overcame many challenges and emerged from this adventure not only completely relaxed and refreshed, but also stronger and stronger. There may be people who think that a houseboat vacation is like camping on the water. For us, however, it was much more exciting, educational and full of aha moments.”
